Jo was born in Manchester, studied & lived in Stoke on Trent and is now settled with her family in Stratford Upon Avon. Her training is in Fine art painting, for which she holds an MA. Since her graduation she has exhibited widely both as a solo artist and within a group.
Mostly she works with oils and mixed media on cardboard, paper & canvas. Recently she has rediscovered etching, so now she prints a little too.She likes to be experimental in her approach; enjoying mark making, printing and the incidental. As well as continually aiming to be developing her thoughts and ideas.
Her work reflects on the saying, ‘Time and tide wait for no man.’
This body of work uses the rhythms of the tide to mirror the momentum of time and it’s transience.

About The Artist
Known for her experimental approach; enjoying mark making, printing and the incidental. Jo is continually developing thoughts and ideas favouring oils and mixed media on cardboard, paper & canvas.
Most recently she has completed a series of works entitled, ‘Time and tide wait for no man.’ This work uses the ebb and flow of the tide to mirror time’s momentum and rhythms. Similarly, She finds Nature’s rotation from season to season and from night to day inspirational.
Her paintings aim to evoke the transience of time and its fleeting memories – “like a tune that wafts in the breeze”, Jo also adds “I like to be experimental in my approach and constantly aim to be developing my thoughts and ideas”.
