Landscape Artist Ben Payne

The acclaimed landscape artist, Ben, has spent over two decades dedicated to his craft. Prior to this, he immersed himself in the realm of Autism as a Behavioural Therapist, a job he cherished, but deep down, he knew his true calling was with paintbrush in hand.

While largely self-taught, Ben’s gifted mother, a talented artist in her own right, imparted upon him the importance of keen observation and expert draftsmanship. It was with these skills that Ben approached galleries for the first time, submitting works inspired by the enchanting British coastline. The allure of the sea had always captivated him, and while he enjoyed the challenge of landscape painting, it was standing on a beach beneath the sprawling sky that allowed his imagination to run wild – the ultimate form of escapism. From there, his artwork organically blossomed, as he sought to depict an idealized reality in each of his pieces.

To further his artistic abilities, Ben made a personal vow to create a thousand small studies, spending years honing his techniques. Not only did these studies enhance his skills, but they also caught the attention of collectors worldwide. Astonishingly, these delicate works found homes in 22 different countries, a fact that humbles Ben to this day. It was the pivotal factor that propelled him to triumph in his artistic career.

When he is not exploring the length and breadth of the United Kingdom (and even venturing beyond) to seek fresh inspiration, Ben can be found working diligently in his studio near the scenic south coast.
