Quentin Blake

Sir Quentin Blake is quite literally a National Treasure. As a cartoonist and children’s book writer, his illustrative works have made him a widely adored and respected artist globally, with very few individuals unfamiliar with him.

Possibly, he is most recognized for giving life to beloved characters in children’s literature through his unique illustrations. His distinctive style, characterized by scrawly and often joyful illustrations, has brought to life some of the most beloved characters in children’s literature.

Matilda, Fantastic Mr Fox, and the Twits are his most acclaimed characters. He has worked on the 1995 version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and has more recently partnered with David Walliams on Mr Stink and The Boy in the Dress.

He describes the development of the meaning behind the character or story as often occurring as he progresses, representing a symbolic and symbiotic relationship between the artist and the concept. He finds sitting down to paint very unnatural; instead, he prefers to be in bed when he draws, paints, or sketches. The mystery of the man behind such wonderful and evocative work lies therein.
